Compare Corded and Cordless Electric Snow Blowers/Throwers: Snow Joe vs. GreenWorks
(Comparing Snow Jow Ultra SJ623E, GreenWorks 2600502, Snow Joe iON18SB and GreenWorks Pro 2600402)
If you have decided to get an electric snow blower (also known as snow thrower) to help you clear out fast from tough winter messes, you have taken a good decision: no gas, no oil and almost no maintenance to worry about! But, you will need to decide whether to get a corded unit that needs to be plugged or a cordless one that is run by batteries.
Note that in general, the term snow thrower refers to a single stage unit where the auger picks up and throws the snow straight out, while the term snow blower is usually used for a two-stage unit where the auger picks the snow up and a separate impeller blows the snow out of the unit. However, nowadays many use these two terms interchangeably, and so will this article. The units to be compared in this article are all single stage. They are lighter, smaller, easier to push and to store than the larger two-stage snow blowers. Single stage units are generally sufficient to clear adequately the snow from most homes' driveways, decks and walks. To clear snow from highways and streets, municipalities usually use two stage snow blowers. This article will compare Snow Jow Ultra SJ623E (corded), GreenWorks 2600502 (corded), Snow Joe iON18SB (cordless) and GreenWorks Pro 2600402 (cordless) single stage snow blowers/throwers. These were not just the most popular among Amazon customers at the time this article was written, but they had also received excellent reviews from most Amazon buyers (an average of at least 4 stars each out of 5 stars!).

So which of the four snow blowers/throwers to buy?
The four snow blowers/throwers considered here are excellent products as shown by the average rating each had received from Amazon customers at the time this article was written. Indeed, they had each received at least 4 stars (out of 5 stars). Therefore, there is a good chance that you would be quite happy with any of these four products.
However, there are some differences that you may want to consider before making up your mind:
First, if your driveway, backyard, deck, etc., is very large, and you can not cover all parts with an extension cord, you might want to consider the battery run units Snow Joe iON18SB or GreenWorks Pro 2600402. Note that GreenWorks Pro can clear a wider path (20” vs. 18") and can handle slightly deeper snow (10” vs. 8") than Snow Joe iON. On the other hand, Snow Joe is equipped with a 2-blade steel auger as opposed to the polyethylene one that comes with GreenWorks Pro. But both units are equipped with headlights.
Now, if the area you need to clear from snow is not too large, so that a plugged and corded unit can be used, you might want to choose between Snow Joe Ultra SJ623E and GreenWorks 2600502. Once again, note that GreenWorks 260050 can clear a slightly wider path than Snow Joe Ultra (20” vs. 18"). But per their product specifications, they can both handle up to 10” deep snow. On the other hand, Snow Joe Ultra is equipped with a 4-blade steel auger as opposed to the polyethylene one that comes with GreenWorks unit, and it is also equipped with headlights, a feature not present on GreenWorks 260050. One additional plus for Snow Joe Ultra is that it also comes with a universal chute clean-out tool to help remove snow build-up.
Finally, its worth pointing out that GreenWork provides a longer warranty period of 4-year vs. 2-year for Snow Joe.
